Christian Pulisic has found his groove in recent weeks for English Premier League side Chelsea, and while his good form could be strengthening his standing under Thomas Tuchel, it is also increasing the interest in his services ahead of the summer transfer window.
Juventus is one of the teams that has taken notice, and is targeting Pulisic, as well as several other Chelsea players for a transfer this summer, Gazzetta Dello Sport reported Thursday.
Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech are being linked with a move to the Serie A club, should Juventus fail in acquiring AS Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo.
Pulisic is in his third season with Chelsea following his transfer from Borussia Dortmund back in 2019. The USMNT forward has scored five goals and added four assists in 25 combined appearances for the Blues this season, lifting both the UEFA Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup trophies dating back to last summer.
Pulisic’s versatlity has been on display in Thomas Tuchel’s squad this season, featuring as a winger, attacking midfield, lead forward, and wingback. In total, he has appeared in 102 matches for Chelsea, scoring 22 goals and adding 28 assists across all competitions.
Both Pulisic and Ziyech have fought for consistent minutes this season with Tuchel having several attacking players in his arsenal. Kai Havertz, Mason Mount, Romelu Lukaku, and Callum Hudson-Odoi are some of the other attacking players that have worked their way into the rotation this season.
A move to Juventus would connect Pulisic with fellow USMNT star Weston McKennie, who is in second season with the Bianconeri, though he is out for the rest of the season with a broken foot.
A transfer away from Chelsea for Pulisic may wind up being put on hold in the wake of new sanctions placed on the team by the UK government due to Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich’s ties to the Russian government, which has waged war on Ukraine.
If Chelsea’s sanctions aren’t lifted then Pulisic could be forced to stay at Stamford Bridge through the 2022/2023 season, but if the sanctions are eventually lifted then Pulisic would be a leading candidate to be sold by a Chelsea team that will be in dire need of defensive reinforcements given the potential looming departures of Antonio Rudiger, Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christiansen.
