Rangers transfer news: Gers now £1.1m away from bringing Morgan Whittaker to Ibrox this month
Rangers want Morgan Whittaker and have already offered £900,000 for him – but Swansea City are seeking around £2million.
That’s according to The Scottish Sunwho claim that Swansea do want to cash in on Whittaker this month.
That has been made pretty clear with Swansea leaving Whittaker out against Sunderland at the weekend to make sure a transfer is still possible.
Whittaker has already played on loan at Plymouth Argyle this season and one appearance for Swansea would block an exit until the summer.
Yet Swansea are standing firm to their £2million asking price so far, booting out a Rangers bid that wasn’t even worth half of that figure.
The ball is now in Rangers’ court; if they really want Whittaker, they will need to ramp up their offer and get closer to that £2million asking price.
Morgan Whittaker feels like a gamble for Rangers
Wales Online were first on the story surrounding Rangers wanting to sign Whittaker and having an initial bid rejected.
It looks like those claims are true with more and more reports emerging about Whittaker and Rangers.

Whittaker, 22, came through the ranks of his hometown club Derby County before being sold to Swansea in 2021.
Whittaker has managed five goals in 22 games but has never really nailed down a key role in the side.
After a strong loan spell at Lincoln City, Whittaker exploded this season with nine goals and seven assists in 25 League One games for Plymouth.
Now recalled to seemingly be sold, Whittaker has already admitted that he is ‘devastated’ to be leaving Plymouth.
The 6ft 3in attacker has mostly played behind a striker in a 3-4-2-1 this season and it’s unclear just where Michael Beale would want him to play for Rangers.
Whittaker has never really excelled in the Championship, and League One to the expectations of a title challenge and European action is a huge jump.
Whittaker is a talent but £2million would feel like a bit of a gamble given the step up required for the Swansea ace.
