The Greek authorities have announced that persons who have not received the third dose of vaccine are considered unimmunized.
Tonight, the Greek Minister of Health, Thanos Plevris, stated that if a person does not have the third dose of vaccine,
“From 1 February, any person who has not received a booster dose of the coronavirus vaccine after a period of 7 months (from the second dose) will be considered unvaccinated. The certificate will still be valid, as it is a 9-month European certificate, but they will no longer be able to benefit from benefits such as access to places reserved for vaccinated persons “, a
Greece, with about 11 million inhabitants, has so far vaccinated more than 7 million with at least one dose. At the same time, more than 3.9 million people received the third dose. According to measures announced on November 18, 2021, unvaccinated people are no longer allowed to enter indoor spaces, including restaurants, cinemas, museums and gyms, even if they have a negative test for coronavirus.
As the number of infections rises sharply due to the Omicron variant, the Athens government announced on December 29, 2021 a new set of restrictions, including a ban on music in bars and restaurants to limit New Year’s Eve party outings.
Athens and Thessaloniki are the two largest cities in Greece that have been most affected by the Omicron variant, according to the authorities.
