Rise of Kryvbas as the main sensation of the season in women's football: its philosophy, quality legionnaires and creative ideas

Successful start and prospect

The new club was founded in early July 2021 on the basis of the Nikolaev Nick. Last season, the team from the south of Ukraine finished in eighth place out of ten participants in the Premier League. Due to financial problems, Nick was on the verge of extinction. According to the agreement, in the new season Nika continues to play in the First League, and Kryvbas will make his debut in the cohort of the strongest.

Now we are recruiting girls to the Academy – we want them to grow up in our country and repeat the success of their compatriot Daryna Apanashchenko, who has been becoming the best football player in Ukraine for the last five years. We look to the future with confidence – Kryvbas delegates seven football players to the Ukrainian U-19 national team. In a year or two they will be in the national team. And we will be represented by football players not only from the national teams of Georgia and Moldova.

Young coaching staff

Alina Stetsenko from Moldova is leading the Kryvyi Rih team. In the past, the 32-year-old coach worked for the youth national teams of Moldova . She is assisted in Kryvyi Rih by compatriot Ihor Ursaki.

We all have a great desire to prove ourselves in the Premier League, – says Stetsenko. – We want to create our own style and model of the game. It is worth noting that there are a lot of young people in our team. In the end, we understand the level of our rivals, although we are determined.

Alina also notes the high level of the Ukrainian championship:

There is a high pace, very good organization of home games. And another important point for me is that the anthem is played at every game, a lot of fans come and the teams have ultras.

The 27-year-old goalkeeper coach in Kryvbas Sergey Smorodin. He spent almost his entire career in his native Uzbekistan, but in 2017 he moved to Odessa’s Chernomorets. Soon Smorodin made his debut in the Premier League as a member of the “sailors”. For him this is the first and special experience of working with a women’s team.

17-year-old scorer and trio of Brazilians

After six matches played, Kryvbas is on the second step with five wins and one draw. The distance to the leader of Zhytlobud-2 is two points. The Kryvyi Rih team will soon face battles with its main competitors – Kharkiv Zhytlobudy.

In the application of Kryvbas for the season there are seven legionnaires. The best scorer of the newcomer of the elite division is 17-year-old Inna Glushchenko. In its assets a third of the goals of the whole team – 6 effective shots . Team captain Anna Ivanova scored three goals.

One of the key football players of Kryvbas is 27-year-old Dumitrica Prisecar, who is called up to the national team of Moldova . She has scored two goals this season. The Kryvyi Rih team is also represented by three representatives of Brazil. For Lidiana De Oliveira, this is not the first experience of playing in the Ukrainian championship.

A few years ago, I played for Lviv-Yantarochka, – says Lidiani. – I really liked Lviv, it is a very cozy and comfortable city. In Kryvbas, I am again looking for an opportunity to show my potential. Here are excellent conditions for the development of athletes. It is a pleasure to be a part of this club.

Adaptation of legionnaires is simplified by a friendly team. Captain Anna Ivanova adds: “We are trying to overcome the language barrier. For many it is a new country, a new environment. However, we are already in the process of learning their Ukrainian words and songs, and they, in turn, teach us.”

Unconventional presentation of the form

Kryvbas recently held presentation of a new form. The shooting took place in a local quarry developed by Rudomine, the club’s general partner. The event was attended by representatives of the women’s team: Lidiani De Oliveira, Maria Anpilogova and Irina Topal, as well as players of the men’s Kryvbas, which is fighting for a place in the Premier League: Denis Vasin, Roman Lepka and Wagner Gonzalvez.

For me, it was the first such experience, – says De Oliveira. – I received wonderful emotions and wonderful impressions.

The club assures that this is not the last such event. “We are constantly looking for original ideas to surprise and set the bar,” adds Artem Gagarin.
