Rising Country Star Karley Scott Collins released new EP ‘Write One’ on June 7

Karley Scott Collins is an emerging singer-songwriter originally from Lake City, Florida. She began her musical journey inspired by the diverse tunes her dad played, from metal bands like Guns N’ Roses and Alice in Chains to timeless artists like Bob Dylan, her biggest inspiration. Karley started playing guitar in her teens and formed a band in her hometown, performing locally. Her move to Nashville in 2019 marked a new chapter, driven by a publishing deal and collaborations with industry talents like Liz Rose, Brock Berryhill, Nathan Chapman, and Brett James.

Collins released her new EP, “Write One,” on June 7 via Sony Music Nashville, which encapsulates her storytelling prowess. The title track, inspired by an ex-boyfriend, features a remarkable contribution from Keith Urban. Karley shares, “He constantly asked if the songs I wrote were about him… It drove me crazy and made me never want to write a love song for him. He cheated and we broke up, I thought it’d be fun to write him the kind of song he didn’t want to hear.” The song, co-written with Nathan Chapman, caught Keith Urban’s attention, who not only praised it but also contributed an incredible guitar solo.

‘Write One’ started as a basic idea I had in my phone about an ex-boyfriend. He constantly asked if the songs I wrote were about him, or when I was going to write a song about him. It drove me crazy and made me never want to write a love song for him. He cheated and we broke up, I thought it’d be fun to write him the kind of song he didn’t want to hear. When Nathan Chapman and I were almost done with it he turned to me and said, ‘I think Keith Urban would really like this, I’m gonna send it to him.’ A few minutes later Keith responded and said he thought the song was badass. He wanted to play guitar on it, which absolutely blew my mind. The next week he came into the studio and put down this incredible guitar solo. Unfortunately, that day, I was on the road in the Netherlands, but he did FaceTime me and played the solo for me. That FaceTime is very much a ‘this can’t be real life’ moment for me.”
