RO : Seas ends this Tuesday, the 5th, the International Day of the Elderly with ecological walk

This Monday morning (4), at the Casa do Ancião São Vicente de Paula, in Porto Velho, was marked by recreation, bingo and the visit of the manager of the State Secretariat for Assistance and Social Development (Seas ), Luana Rocha, continuing the activities related to the International Day of the Elderly, celebrated annually on October 1st. The program opened on Friday (1), with the Tropical Party, when everyone was involved in the typical atmosphere dressed in character.

To the sound of forró, carimbó, samba and other rhythms under the coordination of director Pedro Zimmermann and his team, the elderly welcomed secretary Luana, who took advantage of the special schedule to also relax.

Luana Rocha regretted that the pandemic period prevented events open to the public, such as “Arraiá do Vovô São Vicente”, promoted in 2019 outside the House, when the approval of resources from the State Fund for Combating and Eradicating Poverty (Fecoep) for the construction of the new headquarters of the entity, which works as a long-term institution, serving seniors aged 60 and over, with broken family ties.

After the pandemic period, the secretary of Seas said that a reform will be carried out of the current structure for better accommodation for the elderly. At the end, Luana Rocha thanked the affectionate way in which she was received and also the affection and dedication of the team, which in her assessment makes a difference in the life of each elderly person in the institution, a total of 23 people, 18 of whom are men and five women.

The program continues this Tuesday (5) with an ecological walk and will end on Wednesday (6) with a religious act.

The International Day for the Rights of Older Persons was created by the United Nations (UN) in 1991 to address the rights of the elderly and create spaces for debate on the importance of preserving respect and dignity in old age.
