A new transfer rumor has emerged claiming CR7 is planning his next move if Manchester United fail to qualify for the Champions League.
Cristiano Ronaldo is courting a move to Paris Saint-Germain to team up with Lionel Messi and Neymar for next season.
That’s according to FootballTransfers. The report states Ronaldo will leave Manchester United if they don’t qualify for the Champions League next season, with a move to PSG ‘high on his agenda’.
The 37-year-old is considering what to do next in Portugal. He flew to his homeland at the weekend, after being left out of Sunday’s 4-1 defeat to Manchester City. Interim boss Ralf Rangnick claimed his absence was down to a hip injury, although not everybody is sold on that.
Ronaldo has also ruled out a return to Juventus, while a reunion with Sporting CP is ‘highly unlikely’.
Will Man United qualify for the Champions League?
Winning this season’s tournament or sealing a top-four Premier League finish are the two ways United can qualify for the 2022/23 Champions League.
The Red Devils are currently level with Atletico Madrid at 1-1 on aggregate in their last-16 tie. They’ll qualify for the quarter-finals next Tuesday at home by either keeping a clean sheet in the second leg or by winning it.
In the Premier League, meanwhile, United are one point behind Arsenal in fifth in the standings. The fourth-placed Gunners, however, have three games in hand at the moment. Therefore, Rangnick’s side need to get back to winning ways ASAP. They have a home game against Tottenham coming up next on Saturday.
