ROME – The complaint against Cristiano Ronaldo presented by former model Kathryn Mayorga, who accuses him of sexual assault in 2009, must be rejected for irregularity. The judge in charge of the civil case recommends it before the Nevada federal court. For magistrate Daniel Albregts the accusation is partly based on pirated ‘Football leaks’ documents that should not have been in the woman’s possession. According to the judge, Mayorga’s lawyer would have acted in “bad faith”. Even if Mayorga changes legal, “the court would not be able to say how much of the case is based solely on his memories or whether they were influenced by the Football Leaks documents.”
Ronaldo case, what happened
In June 2009 Mayorga called the police of Las Vegas to report a rape, but refused to reveal the identity of the alleged perpetrator. The case was then closed. In 2010, a private transaction was organized with Ronaldo’s representatives: $ 375,000 in exchange for absolute confidentiality on the alleged facts and the agreement, and the waiver of any lawsuit. But for Mayorga’s current lawyers this contract is null and void due to the psychological disorder that was affecting the woman at the time and the pressure exerted against her. Hence the request of up to 200 million dollars. Then, in 2018, Mayorga resumed contact with the Californian police, asked for the case to be reopened and publicly accused the Portuguese for the first time, who has always denied the allegations of rape, claiming to have had a consenting relationship.
