Belenenses will host Santa Clara, on October 31st, at the Estádio Nacional do Jamor, in Oeiras, assured this Tuesday afternoon by the president of SAD dos Azules, Rui Pedro Soares.
In a press videoconference, in which
he explained that the coach, Petit, will not leave the technical command, Rui Pedro Soares confirmed –
as Maisfotebol advanced – that the new pitch has already been placed at Jamor and that, therefore, the team will already receive the Azoreans there, for the 10th round of the I League.
«We have already been informed that the laying of the turf at the Estádio Nacional is completed and, with the new mat, the game with Santa Clara will already be at the Estádio Nacional», he began by saying about the subject.
«It is important to clarify that the League did not force the pitch to be changed so that games could be played there. The League only forced the irrigation system to be changed. It was IPDJ’s decision change the turf. The Estádio Nacional will have an excellent pitch, its implementation is complete», he concluded.
About the beginning of the championship – Belenenses are in 17th and third from bottom with four points – Rui Pedro Soares believes that time will bring results. After listing as the main reasons the absence of home games at Jamor and also the late arrival of players in the squad in the transfer market, the manager assured that the team is “stronger” and has “more solutions than last season”. “Now, this is a team sport and not an individual one. You have to turn 25 players into a competitive team. We haven’t been able to do this work yet», he pointed out.
Before the reception to Santa Clara at the end of the month, Belenenses will visit Berço, in Guimarães, on the 17th, for the third round of the Portugal Cup. Then, on the 25th, he moves to Bessa to face Boavista, in the ninth round of the I League.
So far, Belenenses have received Marítimo (defeat by 2-1), Moreirense (draw 1-1), Gil Vicente (draw 1-1) and Tondela (defeat by 2-0), in games held in Leiria, due to the delay in the works at Jamor.
