Chris Sutton rates Mohamed Salah as the world’s best player, ahead of even Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The ex-Blackburn Rovers striker, who like Salah is a Golden Boot and title winner in the Premier League, sung the Egyptian’s praises after his brilliant solo goal against Manchester City.
Liverpool may have had to settle for a 2-2 draw at home, but Salah’s wonder strike will live on long in the minds of countless fans.
“At this moment in time, he’s better than Messi and Ronaldo,” Sutton told BBC.
Having also assisted Sadio Mane’s goal on Saturday, Salah has nine goals and three assists to his name in nine appearances across all competitions this season.
The two-time Golden Boot winner, who has less than two years left on his Reds contract, sits level with Leicester City star Jamie Vardy at the top of the Premier League scoring charts on six goals.
Sutton added: “His numbers have been sensational the last few seasons. To do it on that stage, which he has done for so many years, it just sums up how brilliant he is.
“Consistency is what you look for and he is doing it season after season after season where others are falling away and Liverpool still haven’t signed him up.”
