The Galaxy Z Flip 5 has been rumored to sport a large cover display, however, no images were available to support the claim. The latest renders of Samsung’s upcoming foldable phone offer a glimpse at its display, featuring a quirky new design.
Galaxy Z Flip 5 Cover Display
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 sports some major design changes, when compared to the Galaxy Z Flip 4. Going by the leaked renders, the outer display covers almost fifty percent of the back panel.
The most interesting aspect of the design is the upper portion of the display, which has a dip at the center to make space for the camera cutouts. The image shows two cameras at the top, accompanied by an LED flash.
According to recent reports, Samsung may offer some clever software features that make use of the cover display’s folder-like design. The brand could even convert folks who hate the cover panel if it manages to pull off these purported new features.
Galaxy Z Flip 5 Rumored Features
There’s still a lot to say about the cover display, if we can move on from the eccentric design. According to the report, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will sport a 3.4-inch cover display, which is a massive jump from its predecessor’s 1.9-inch cover screen.
To put this into perspective, the Z Flip 5’s display will surpass that of the Oppo Find N2 Flip, which has a 3.26-inch external screen. If the rumor turns out to be true, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will have the largest flip phone cover display.
Meanwhile, the inner display is rumored to measure 6.7 inches. Additionally, the smartphone is expected to sport an AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The display will feature a punch-hole notch at the top for the selfie camera.
The smartphone is rumored to get a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and will likely ship with Android 13. When unfolded, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will reportedly measure 165 x 71.8 x 6.7mm.
Additionally, there’s talk of a new waterdrop hinge design which could reduce the appearance of the display crease. Although Samsung hasn’t announced the launch date, we can expect the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 to debut by the end of July.
