Samsung’s next big Android update, One UI 6.1, debuted on the Galaxy S24 series last month, but is getting ready to make its way to more Galaxy devices. Here’s what you need to know.

Samsung has confirmed this evening that One UI 6.1 will begin rolling out in “late March” for select Galaxy devices released in 2023. These devices will be getting not only the new features in One UI 6.1, but also Samsung’s Galaxy AI suite.

Devices that will get the update next month include:

  • Galaxy S23
  • Galaxy S23+
  • Galaxy S23 Ultra
  • Galaxy S23 FE
  • Galaxy Z Fold 5
  • Galaxy Z Flip 5
  • Galaxy Tab S9
  • Galaxy Tab S9+
  • Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra

But will these devices be getting access to the full Galaxy AI suite? As it turns out, yes!

Samsung says that new AI features coming to these older Galaxy devices include Circle to Search for one. The rather impressive Live Translate for phone calls will also make its way down to other devices, as will Interpreter which is used for in-person conversations.

In Samsung Keyboard, Chat Assist will be available with its translation, tone, and grammar functions. Similarly, Samsung Notes will get Note Assist with summaries, translations, and more on these older devices, while

In the Gallery app, Generative Edit will use generative AI to assist in advanced photo edits, while Edit Suggestions and Instant Slow-Mo will also be supported on these older Galaxy devices. AI wallpapers will also be available.

Samsung Internet will get “Browsing Assist” for summarizing news articles. This feature actually flew mostly under the radar during Samsung’s Galaxy S24 announcement, too, so it’s nice to see even it will be expanding.

As for the timeline, Samsung tells us that these updates will roll out starting in “late March,” but there’s no specific date attached. More than likely, they’ll arrive with each device’s respective March 2024 security update, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
