The director of a special needs school in Jessen (Saxony-Anhalt) is said to have locked a nine-year-old with Down’s syndrome in a wooden box in the schoolyard for 25 minutes. This is reported by “Bild am Sonntag”. A classmate of the boy had sent her mother a voice message on December 14th, in which she reported that the headmistress had locked the boy in.
“The boy cannot breathe in there,” says Classmate
“Mum, Ms. H. is really going crazy now, Max put her in the toy box and of course sat on it.” Shortly thereafter, she sent another worried message that the boy in the box could not breathe. After the mother of the classmate forwarded the message to the boy’s parents, they drove to the school and saw how the headmistress was still sitting on the box. Finally, the boy was released, reports the “Bild”.
The parents alerted the police , who took the boy out of the School picked up. Locking up in the box, said a police officer according to “Bild am Sonntag”, was probably “the last resort” for the director.
The boy’s parents do not know what exactly happened that morning in advance. According to the report, they had sent their son back to school for the first time the day before. Since his actual supervisor is ill, his parents took care of him at home.
The state school office told “Bild” that they were taking “the incident very seriously”: “There are currently no official legal measures indicated because the matter has not yet been conclusively clarified. ” The director pointed out that she was not allowed to provide any information, as this was an ongoing process. The parents hired a lawyer to see if they would take legal action. After the holidays the boy will not go to school for the time being.
