Manaus – The search for a family that disappeared after trying to cross the Madeira River in Nova Olinda do Norte, in the interior of Amazonas (135km away from Manaus) continues this Thursday (13). Men from the Civil Defense and Municipal Security Department (SEMSEG) carried out a sweep of the accident site during part of the night.The victims were identified as Arivaldo da Silva Lima, 65, Gracineide Pinto de Lima, 60, Benedita Pinto de Lima, 33. Among the missing children, the victims are: Ágata Manuela de Lima Farias, 4, Wiliam Levi Muniz de Lima, 3 and Gleiciane da Costa Lima, 8 years old According to Nova Olinda’s Civil Defense chief, Edinho Figueiredo, the victims crossed the Madeira River in the ‘Laguinho’ region and were without life jackets. At the time of the accident, it was very windy, which caused a strong windstorm, and this would be the main cause of the disappearance. The Civil Defense of the municipality said that a glider plane will help in the search for the family. Fire Department divers heading to the site to carry out a sweep.
