‘Selling Sunset’s Alanna Gold Gets Called Out For Claiming She Owns Pioneertown; Netflix Star Issues Apology

Alanna Gold is the newest member of Selling Sunset and is already experiencing the heat of being part of one of the most popular shows on Netflix.

As viewers made their way through the Season 8 episodes, one of the things Gold revealed about herself was that she owned Pioneertown, a small California community in the High Desert in San Bernardino County.

“I own a little Western town in the desert, so it’s called Pioneertown,” Gold told her co-star Bre Tiesi in one of the episodes.

Gold later arranged a girls’ trip to the desert and gave her co-stars a tour of the town and her home.

However, the real estate agent was called out by residents of Pioneertown for saying she owned the entire community.

“The baseless claims by Selling Sunset’s Alanna Gold that she ‘owns Pioneertown’ undermines 78 years of internationally celebrated film, arts and cultural history,” read a statement from residents shared by the Pioneertown Gazette on Instagram. “These claims belittle generations of artists, neighbors, nature lovers, community members, musicians, small business owners and otherwise magnificent people of Pioneertown.”

The residents explained that “Pioneertown is a mile-square census-designated community with over 400 residents and is privately owned by more than 100 independent parties.”

“Mrs. Gold has a small minority non-controlling interest in an entity that owns six of thirty five parcels in the Mane Street area, constituting less than 1% of Pioneertown’s total 640 acres,” the statement continued. “The claim that she owns the ‘entire town’ is verifiably false.”

After facing backlash for her claims, Gold issued an apology, which People shared.

“I want to reach out to personally say I am so deeply sorry for the confusion I have caused,” Gold said. “I certainly do not own Pioneertown, I never should have said that and I apologize for doing so. I want you to know that I did not mean any harm, I absolutely love Pioneertown and I simply got too excited talking about it.”

Gold continued, “We wanted to become part of the community, so we invested in a home and other properties there. Again, I am so sorry to the people of Pioneertown, I would never want to disrespect the town’s history or any of the people who make it such a wonderful place.”
