Senegal este prima finalistă a ediției din 2022 a Cupei Africii pe Națiuni, după ce au trecut de Burkina Faso, finalistă în 2013, cu scorul de 3-1. Au marcat: Ibrahim Toure ’82 / Abdou Diallo ’70, Idrissa Gueye ’76, Sadio Mane ’87.
Senegalul este a treia oară în finală, după ce a mai atins această fază în 2002 şi 2019, dar nu a câştigat niciodată trofeul.
În cealaltă semifinală se vor întâlni, joi, de la ora 21.00, echipele Egiptului şi ţării gazdă, Camerun.
Finala mare este programată duminică, iar finala mică, sâmbătă. Conform caselor de pariuiri, Senegal este favorita finalei, însă e posibil ca această statistică să fie schimbată după stabilirea celei de-a doua finaliste.
