Investment of 16 million euros foresees the creation of a tourist, sports and technological complex
The company Circuito do Sol intends to create a tourist, sports and technological complex in the municipality of Serpa (district de Beja) in an investment of 16 million euros that includes a car circuit dedicated to electric cars and a development center.
The project “Circuito do Sol – Circuit of Car Training and Support Equipment” involves the reconversion and expansion of the old karting track of this municipality, which is deactivated, creating the first track in the world “thought and designed” for electric vehicles.

The investment promoted by Circuito do Sol by entrepreneurs Raul Garcia Isern (Spanish) and Lars Lindberg (Swedish) awaits decision to proceed after the respective Environmental Impact Study (EIA) has been under public consultation between August and September 2021.
The EIA consulted in these This Wednesday by the Lusa agency indicates that the entrepreneurs are partners of a company linked to motorsports in Málaga (Spain), having “a vast curriculum in the management and maintenance of racing cars” and representing “various brands of racing cars for the Iberian Peninsula”.

Is The project is expected to be developed on a property with 62.7 hectares in the parish of Vila Verde de Ficalho, including the creation of a “tourist, sports and technological” complex geared towards the practice of motorsport, “with a component of development and innovation in terms of electric vehicles”.
The first two phases of the project, which justified the EIA, estimate the creation of the automobile circuit, as well as support buildings, a rural hotel with 14 accommodation units (T2 typology ‘villages’) and the technological development center for electric vehicles (DEAL – Development Eletric c Auto Lab) using the circuit for the tests.

The runway should occupy an area of “approximately 10 hectares” and aims to be “100% sustainable” and the first “thought and designed” for vehicles electric vehicles worldwide.
With a length of 2,978 meters, the circuit will have an infrastructure that “will allow charging up to 30 vehicles” electric vehicles, but “in the first years of operation” it will be possible to use the track with gasoline or diesel “combustion vehicles”.

The company promoting the investment foresees in the EIA that the “Circuito do Sol” will start this year at its activity, estimating the creation of up to “about 40 jobs”. For the future, in phases 3 and 4, investors want to create an oval wet test track, a 4×4 circuit, an electric motocross track, a driving school and a five-star tourist development.
