Seven-Eleven Japan will start cashing with non-contact and aerial display technology from February 1st. Demonstration experiments of the less self-registration “Digi POS” will be started sequentially at 6 stores in Tokyo. It is said that this is the world’s first demonstration experiment that uses aerial display technology for POS cash registers.
The aerial display is a display that allows you to operate images floating in the air like a touch panel, and is used at reception desks in hotels and offices, digital signage, and so on. With the Digi POS, the cash register screen is imaged in the air so that it can be operated in the same way as a touch panel. This will lead to responding to non-contact needs to prevent infection and saving space at checkout counters.
The demonstration experiment will be conducted jointly with Asukanet (Hiroshima City), Kanda Kogyo (Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture), Mitsui Chemicals, Mitsui & Co. Plastics, and TOSHIBA TEC.
