Sevilla beats Juventus to reach seventh Europa League final

Six-time winners Sevilla have made it to their seventh Europa League final after beating Juventus in a thrilling semi-final second leg. Juventus took the lead on 65 minutes through substitute Dusan Vlahovic, before Sevilla equalised six minutes later through their own substitute, Suso. The game went into extra time and five minutes in, Bryan Gil crossed for Erik Lamela to head the decisive goal home, sending Sevilla to the final. Sevilla defender Marcos Acuna was sent off late on, and the hosts held out to secure their place in the final, where they will face Roma.

After a steady opening, the game came to life midway through the first half with both goalkeepers being called into action. Sevilla’s Yassine Bounou saved Federico Gatti’s header, while Juventus’ Wojciech Szczesny kept out Lucas Ocampos’ diving header. In the second half, Juventus twice went close with Adrien Rabiot shooting wide and Bremer heading just past the post. Juventus took the lead when Vlahovic brushed past a defender and finished with a clever dink. Sevilla equalised through Suso’s brilliant left-footed strike. The teams kept coming, and the match remained tight until the end of regular time and went into extra time.

During extra time, the visitors responded well as they hunted desperately for a goal to send the tie on to penalties, but Sevilla held firm. Acuna was shown a second yellow card for time-wasting five minutes from the end. Despite this, Sevilla managed to hold on and secure their seventh Europa League final ticket.

The final score was Sevilla 2, Juventus 1. Gonzalo Montiel was shown the yellow card for Sevilla, and Erik Lamela won a free kick. Bremer was called for a foul by Lamela. Leandro Paredes missed his attempt at the goal, and Filip Kostic’s shot was blocked, assisted by Federico Chiesa. Papu Gómez conceded a corner to Juventus, and Gonzalo Montiel also conceded a corner. Karim Rekik replaced Suso, who was then shown the yellow card. Leandro Paredes was also shown the yellow card. Rakitic won a free kick, and Fabio Miretti was called for the foul. Sevilla’s Acuña was shown the second yellow card, and there was a delay as Ivan Rakitic was injured. Fabio Miretti was called for a handball, and Federico Chiesa missed his left-footed shot. Arkadiusz Milik assisted in Chiesa’s shot.
