Group chats with both Messenger and Instagram users
Instagram users can now start group chats with Messenger users and vice versa. You only need to use one of the two apps for this. It has been possible to have private conversations with each other for some time now. With the arrival of group conversations, the new shared chat experience between both apps is almost complete.
In addition, participants of group conversations can now also use polls. Through polls it is possible to share your opinion or cast a vote. Handy if, for example, your group of friends is in doubt about a restaurant or cinema film. Group conversations work similar to group conversations via WhatsApp. From now on you can also see who is typing via Messenger and Instagram.
Speaking of WhatsApp, this popular chat app is also owned by Facebook. There are therefore plans to merge WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger.

In addition to shared group chats, another Facebook feature is coming to Instagram: Watch Together. Watch Together allows users to watch Instagram content together. This can be anything – both standard posts and Instagram TV videos. The feature is similar to Apple’s SharePlay feature, which will be available in iOS 15 .
Watch Together only works during a video chat. Via the share button under a post, users will now see an extra option during video calling. Facebook hopes to bring users closer together with the feature. The goal is to ‘make people feel connected, even when they’re not together’.
