Sony Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III receive the update to Android 12; Dual-SIM variants are the first to update

The first days of January brought us spring temperatures, snow in the last hours and many updates to Android 12 for the main smartphones on the market. Samsung is leading the way in the news of updates, but now Sony is also appearing in the landscape, announcing the availability of Android 12 on Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III phones. We have extra details below.

You should know first that this update comes with the build 61.1.A.1.149 and that the first to update are the variants dual-SIM identified by the serial number XQ-BC72 and XQ-BQ72, respectively. The other versions will receive the update very soon, and related to the news, we have on the Sony website a complete guide with everything that changes with the transition to the new software release.

Some of these are extended screenshots, one-handed operation, and a notification that notifies us when the camera or microphone is in use. There is also the option to give applications access to a nearby location and not the exact one, and now we can share the WiFi network through Nearby Share. The new update is delivered via OTA, and the recommendation is to use a WiFi connection for download.

Here at Mobilissimo I reviewed it Xperia 1 III which can be found above in video format, or in text format here . Here’s what the current local prices look like:
