Steirer-Derby in the B2L goes to the Panthers again

In the Styria derby of the basketball second division, Future Team Steiermark kept up well until half-time the favorites, the Lopoca Panthers Fürstenfeld.

A 13-0 run early in the third quarter gives the Panthers a higher lead for the first time. The young players of the Future Team try everything possible, but the Fürstenfelder act too hard and win the game with 85:63.

Pit Stahl, Coach Panthers: “In the end a deserved victory, although you could see in the first half that we were in haven’t even had more than seven people in training for the last three and a half weeks. Respect to the Future Team, who put in a very good performance, especially in the first half.”

Krzysztof Kawalek, Panthers player: “Today was a very difficult game for US. We had a long break and were totally out of rhythm. The first half was very bad, in the second we played good basketball and showed how strong we are this year.”

Elias Podany, Future Team player: “We started the game well and were leading at half-time. Fürstenfeld scored very well in the third quarter, we lost a lot of the ball and that’s why it wasn’t enough in the end.

Jonathan Wess, Future Team player: “We’ve got kept up really well in the first three quarters, especially against such a good team. Unfortunately, we lacked experience in the last quarter and made too many mistakes.”

Best shooters: Sims jr. 20, Hajder and Wolf 15 each or Vötsch 17, Wess 10, Zapf 9
