Stroll: Krack is 'the right man' to make Aston Martin F1 successful

Lawrence Stroll, the chairman of Aston Martin and owner of Aston Martin F1, naturally welcomed the former director of BMW Motorsport at the head of his team.

The Canadian has parted ways with Otmar Szafnauer, as many speculations had suggested for months. And Mike Krack, announced today, therefore inherits all the pressure on his shoulders to make Stroll’s project a success.

“Winning in Formula 1 consists to bring together the best efforts of all the key players – drivers, engineers, mechanics, everyone – and Mike is perfectly positioned to pull off exactly that, he is the right man for us.”

“We are hiring brilliant new people every week. The construction of our new factory is progressing very well. We have a fantastic list of great sponsors and partners. We are about to start the second year of our five-year plan, the objective of which is to win the Formula 1 world championships.”

“All the ingredients we need are in place. Mike will play a central and leading role, under the leadership of Martin Whitmarsh and leading our technical and operational functions. Our collective goal is to achieve these lofty ambitions. We are on this path.”

Stroll therefore specified that Martin Whitmarsh, group general manager, will supervise Mike Krack. F1.

“Mike Krack is exactly the type of dynamic, modern team leader who, working with our other senior leaders under the leadership of Lawrence and my senior management, together with our ever-growing staff of skilled and dedicated employees, will ensure the championship success in Formula 1 that we at Aston Martin F1 are so determined to achieve,” he says.

“Having held very high positions in motorsport at BMW and Porsche, supported by an engineering background in Formula 1 with Sauber, Mike has a mix of experience and expertise that makes him the ideal choice for us.”

“He works well with drivers, having prioritized this aspect during his time at BMW in recent years, and also with the engineers, since he speaks their language.”
