Swiss can be rewarded for encouraging friends, relatives and colleagues to get vaccinated against covid-19, according to a new bill.

Those who persuade others to get vaccinated can get coupons worth 50 francs (400 kroner) for use in restaurants or cinemas, says Minister of Health Alain Berset.

The scheme will work by those who receive a vaccine passport, registering the person who persuaded them.

The proposal has been sent out for consultation in the cantons of Switzerland, and a final decision will be made in mid-October.

Only 58.5 percent of Switzerland’s population has so far been fully vaccinated. It is far too low for the authorities to repeal current measures against the virus, such as ordering a bandage on public transport.

The number of coronary deaths in the United States has now exceeded 700,000. The number is greater than the population of Boston or the capital Washington.

It took three and a half months from the death toll went from 600,000 to 700,000, figures from Johns Hopkins University show. The spread of the more contagious delta variant among the unvaccinated part of the population is one of the driving forces behind the increase, reports the news agency AP.

The high death toll is frustrating for frontline health professionals and health authorities, because Vaccines have been available to all Americans for almost six months. Nevertheless, around 70 million Americans have not been vaccinated, which creates fertile ground for the delta variant.

    – The vaccine station will request a date for the first dose, but residents also have an independent responsibility to have an overview of whether the minimum interval is complied with, according to the vaccine manager.
