SwitchArcade Round-Up: ‘Yeah Yeah Beebiss II’, ‘Webbed’, Plus Today’s Other Releases and the Latest Sales

Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for February 2nd, 2022. We’ve got a bit of news to look at in today’s article before we head into the new releases for the day. It’s a short list, but a decent one. Some interesting things in it, to be sure. There’s also a rather large number of new sales to look at, plus a healthy list of expiring discounts as well. Let’s check it out!

Yacht Club Games Announces ‘Mina The Hollower’

Yacht Club Games has basically been working on Shovel Knight since the company was formed. The game was a big success, spawning spin-offs and tons of guest appearances for the main character. So what will Yacht Club do for an encore? Mina The Hollower, that’s what. It’s a top-down action-adventure game similar to the Zelda games, complete with a rather authentic Game Boy Color-inspired presentation. The game is currently on Kickstarter, so it’s probably still a ways off from release. But I think it’s okay to start getting excited now. I just watched it pass its funding goal as I typed these words, and we know Yacht Club is good for it.

New Releases

Yeah Yeah Beebiss II ($9.99)

A long time ago, a couple of ads for game shops in magazines listed a mysterious title: Yeah Yeah Beebiss I. There are lots of theories about what that name was doing there, as there is no game with that name in anyone’s records. We may never know the truth, but that never stopped inside jokes from happening. Yeah Yeah Beebiss II attempts to be a sequel to that unknown title, drawing in elements from a few different theories about its origins. It’s a single-screen arcade-style action game where you play as a Jiangshi. A friend can join in for local multiplayer co-op. There are one hundred levels spread across ten unique layouts, so it does go on for a bit.

Webbed ($19.99)

This may be as close as we get to a solo Spidey adventure on the Switch. It’s a puzzle-platformer where you play as a spider who is trying to rescue her boyfriend from a bowerbird. All you have to help you out is your web-spinning ability, but it turns out that is all you need. Use it to make paths, swing around, or help other bugs who may return the favor. For some reason it’s double the price here that it is if you buy it on computer, but I guess that happens now and then. This is a very fun game for fans of spiders.

The Dead Tree of Ranchiuna ($9.99)

Look, you either like developer Tonguc Bodur’s games, or you don’t. There doesn’t seem to be much in-between when it comes to opinions on his work. Anyway, like most of his other games this is a walking simulator that aims to tell a story. A man returns to his hometown and finds it completely deserted. He gets flashes of memory as he wanders around, slowly peeling back the layers of the mystery. It really is mostly a long walk, so don’t come in expecting anything resembling puzzle-solving or obstacles. So it’s all about whether that story clicks for you or not, and I’m not going to be able to help you with that.

Invert ($2.00)

A cheap and simple logic puzzler with forty-five stages. Change the colors of the squares to make them all identical. You have a limited number of moves to do this in. We’ve seen a lot of games like this, but if you just need another puzzle game to play, it’s certainly affordable.

Sales

(North American eShop, US Prices)

Lots of Bandai Namco games, but we see those pretty often. Unpacking and Negative Nancy are rarer. Cyber Shadow, too. Quite a few good games in both the incoming and outgoing lists, though. I know I say this a lot but this is really a case where you should examine both lists carefully to see if there’s anything of interest to you there. Happy hunting!

I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday, and as always, thanks for reading!
