Die US-Verkehrssicherheitsbehörde ist dagegen, dass statt der Hupe Geräusche wie meckernde Ziegen oder Furze ertönen.
Mit seiner “Boombox”-Funktion erlaubte es Tesla Fahrer*innen bisher, bestimmte Geräusche anstelle einer Hupe ertönen zu lassen. Neben einer Auswahl an voreingestellten Geräuschen wie Flatulenzen oder dem Meckern von Ziegen, war es auch möglich, Teile von Songs abzuspielen. Die US-Verkehrssicherheitsbehörde NHTSA bereitet der Funktion nun ein Ende – zumindest während der Fahrt.
Verwirrte Fußgänger*innen
Wie Gizmodo berichtet, sieht die NHTSA die Gefahr, dass die lustigen Alternativen zur Hupe jene Warngeräusche übertönen, die Teslas über ihre Frontlautsprecher absondern müssen, um Fußgänger*innen auf das Herannahen eines Elektroautos aufmerksam zu machen. Das könnte zu Zusammenstößen führen, heißt es in einem Bericht. Die Boombox muss Tesla im Zuge eines Rückrufes anpassen.
Update behebt das Problem
Besitzer*innen von über 570.000 Teslas, die mit der Boombox-Funktion ausgestattet sind, müssen dafür zumindest keine Werkstätte ansteuern. Stattdessen wird ein Over-the-Air-Update ausgeliefert, dass die Boombox modifiziert. In Zukunft wird man dann keine Furzgeräusche mehr abspielen können, wenn sich das Auto in den Fahrmodi D, R oder N befindet. In der Parkstellung P wird weiterhin fröhlich gefurzt werden können.
