The tourism boom experienced by the Seychelles in the Pacific Ocean led to a surge in the Republic’s local currency, and its performance this year surpassed that of the rest of the world’s currencies. The Seychelles rupee strengthened 2.9% this week to 13.31 rupees to the dollar, and so far this year has added 60% to its value – making it the best-performing currency in a basket of 146 currencies in the world, followed by the Bloomberg network.
