Bones of humans and animals and very rare ceramics. It is supposed to be one of the most important archaeological finds. The cave in the north of Slovakia gradually reveals a mysterious, perhaps catastrophic story about 5,000 years old. Did something terrible happen here?
The first answers come after a few weeks of laboratory research.
0 to 16 years old, “anthropologist Zuzana Mihalčinová recapitulates the finding.
The burial ground was not. Bone violence failed. Maybe they hid from something. Additional bones have yet to be removed from the sediments. According to the rare vessels found, these late Stone Age people may have planned to stay in the cave for some time. Especially foxes, but also badgers, martens, wild and domestic cats and their prey rabbits and birds. Some may have come from a long time ago.
Together, one of the most important Slovak archaeological finds, even after several weeks of research, raises more and more questions. What were they doing there? Why were there so many children? Did the cave fill up? Were they unable to get outside, or what happened? “Martin Furman asks aloud.
They still have to look for answers in the cave and in the laboratories.
