The cantons of Aargau, Solothurn, Appenzell-Innerrhoden and Wallis will start vaccinating the vector vaccine of the US health company Johnson & Johnson at the end of next week or in the first half of October.
When it comes to the new vaccine from Johnson & Johnson, allergy sufferers have priority. The vaccination is not possible without prior notification, as the health directorates announced on Friday. They are usually referred to the vaccination centers by their treating doctors.
The canton of Aargau is expected to receive around 12,000 cans. Registration for people without allergies is expected to be possible from October 11th, as it was said.
In the canton of Solothurn, the vaccine will be available from the end of next week. Vaccination is offered in the cantonal centers of Selzach and Trimbach – one day per week each. A vaccination without prior appointment is not possible. The canton of Solothurn receives a total of 4500 doses of the Janssen vaccine.
Appenzell-Innerrhoden opened the registration for allergic or mNRA-skeptical residents on Friday. The vector vaccine will be administered from October 9th. Appointments are only available by appointment. The health and social department did not announce how many doses the half-canton will receive.
Valais will begin administering the vector vaccine on Friday, October 8th. People with medical indications against the two mNRA vaccines or people who reject the mNRA vaccines must register at the vaccination center in Sion.
Administer from the following week from October 11th all three cantonal vaccination centers in Brig, Sitten and Collombey daily vaccination by appointment. The Valais will initially receive 6,000 doses.
Switzerland has initially bought 150,000 doses of the Janssen vaccine. Reorders are possible. Distribution to the cantons is via the army pharmacy. According to information from the army media office on Friday, the distribution has not yet started.
Only a single dose is necessary for the vector vaccine. The certificate is only valid 22 days after vaccination. Then the vaccination is fully effective.
