Nigerian sprinter Blessing Okagbare is subject to a file with the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) for three anti-doping rule violations , including the one that prevented him from starting the 100-meter Olympic semi-finals in Tokyo 2020 on July 31st.
Okagbare was suspended that day with immediate effects after testing positive for human growth hormone in a doping control to which she was subjected on July 19.
The AIU has now brought charges against the athlete in relation to three separate disciplinary matters.
In control Out of competition that happened on July 19 in Slovakia tested positive for Human Growth Hormone.
She also tested positive, this time for erythropoietin (EPO), in an out-of-competition test that she underwent on June 20 in Nigeria.
Finally, the AIU files charges against Okagbare for the athlete’s refusal to collaborate in the investigation of her case, in accordance with rule 12 of the World anti-doping regulations Athletics.
The sprinter, explains the AIU in a statement, did not comply with the request to provide the data requested on September 15.
Okagbare has denied all the charges and has requested that all of them be examined by the disciplinary tribunal.
