I no pass ancora in piazza: Trieste in tilt, i poliziotti tolgono il casco

“Serve, serve”. “Freedom”, “Sold”. These are the slogans that thousands of No pass chanted by parading through the streets of downtown Trieste and then gather in front of the Rai headquarters where, to ease the tension, the deployed policemen took off their helmets to the applause of those present.

According to the police headquarters, no less than ten thousand people who, after having gathered in Largo Riborso, walked the streets of the center starting from very central Corso Italia and sending traffic haywire throughout the city. Moments of tension were recorded in via Fabio Severo, in front of the local Rai headquarters where the demonstrators shouted slogans against the government and journalists. At that point the agents present, in riot gear, decided to take off their helmets and shake hands with those present to avoid exacerbation of spirits.

Few masks at the procession that went through the city. Several banners, signs and bibs to claim no to the disputed vaccination passport, now mandatory for all workers. “No Green pass, no Apartheid”, it reads. And again: “Enough blackmail and violence, no green pass”. The protest was punctuated by smoke bombs, slogans and drums, but no clashes were recorded.

Port workers also took to the streets wearing work clothes. But also several teachers and some mayoral candidates, such as Franco Bandelli of the Movimento Futura civic list.

I don’t want to contain the procession no Green pass, I want to talk to those who have doubts “, said the president of the Fvg and the Conference of the Regions Massimiliano Fedriga , which in Trieste closed the electoral campaign of the center-right candidate Roberto Dipiazza, “ I want to talk about the protections that I am on the importance of protecting yourself, on risk reduction, on vaccines and tampons. I am always for dialogue, it is not always easy. I have also received personal attacks, which I let go of thinking about the collective good. So even those who have me attacked I hope he has the desire to listen. The institutions must accompany the country, not crucify those who have doubts. We must explain otherwise we risk doing damage. The pandemic comes out together, not with a State that orders and a citizen who executes “.
