The number of covid-infected continues to decrease

For the third week in a row, the number of new cases of covid-19 in Västra Götaland decreases.

But it is not yet free for everyone to live as before the pandemic, says infection control doctor Thomas Wahlberg.

– This mainly applies to the unvaccinated, who must continue to keep a distance from others, avoid congestion and avoid contact with people who are at risk, he says in a press release.

On Wednesday last week, the coronary restrictions were lifted, something that does not seem to have had a negative impact on the spread of infection. Last week, the decline in the number of new cases of covid-19 in Västra Götaland continued.

647 cases were found, which was a decrease of 18 percent compared to the week before.

According to a press release from the Västra Götaland region, the decline is noticeable at most ages in the entire region.

But infection control doctor Thomas Wahlberg still holds up a warning finger:

– Contrary to many people’s beliefs, so can not everyone returns to living as they did before the pandemic. This mainly applies to the unvaccinated, who must continue to keep their distance from others, avoid congestion and avoid contact with people who are at risk, he says in the press release.

During Wednesday this morning, 50 covid patients received care at one of the region’s hospitals. Of these, five were admitted to the intensive care unit. Among those who need hospital care, unvaccinated people are “completely dominant”, states the region.
