Business and government have agreed to greater compensation due to high industrial electricity prices. This happened during today’s online meeting of Prime Minister Kiril Petkov with representatives of major employers’ organizations. It has reached a new agreement as a ceiling for compensation, reports BTV.
The business insisted on changing the ceiling of the amounts they can receive as compensation from the state . Until now, business benefits have been limited to a maximum of 30% of the market price of electricity. It was the ceiling that became a source of dissatisfaction on the part of employers’ organizations. The two parties agreed on over 185 levs per megawatt-hour on the free market, the compensation to be 75% of the excess.
“The compensation for October and November was 110 BGN, for December it will be BGN 129, and for the first quarter of 2022 there will be a ceiling of BGN 250, but it is a function of the established price – the ceiling is reached at a stock exchange price of BGN 520. We hope not to touch to this ceiling “, said Vasil Velev from the Association of Industrial Capital in Bulgaria.
According to the business, this compensation will allow to keep inflation, and companies will be able to plan their sales at certain prices.
“We have agreed with the Prime Minister, if there is tension and escalation of prices, to consider another type of compensation,” explained Dobri Mitrev from Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce
