“The Wire”: Where Are They Now? Julito McCollum Turns to Rap, Michael B. Jordan’s Directorial Debut & More

As The Wire celebrates its 21st anniversary since its premiere in June 2002, several cast members from the acclaimed show have gone on to achieve notable success in their careers. SOHH takes a look at where some of the other beloved cast members of The Wire are now.

McCollom, who portrayed Namond Price on The Wirehas taken a new direction in his career and entered the world of rap. Under the stage name LITOMcCollum recently released a song titled “My Shawty,” which samples Florida rapper Plies’ hit track “Shawty” featuring T-Pain.

Tristan “Mack” Wilds

Known for his portrayal of Michael Lee, he continued his acting career after the show. He joined the cast of the Beverly Hills 90210 reboot and appeared in the film Red Tails.

Additionally, Wilds ventured into the music industry, releasing two albums and making an appearance in Adele’s music video for “Hello.”

Michael B. Jordan

The award-winning actor who played the memorable character of Wallace on The Wire has seen tremendous success since his time on the show. He went on to star in popular series like All My Children and Friday Night Lights before earning critical acclaim for his role as Oscar Grant in Fruitvale Station.

Jordan’s career skyrocketed with roles in blockbuster films such as Fantastic Four, Black Pantherand the Creed franchise. In 2023, he made his directorial debut with Creed 3which was well-received by audiences and became a box-office hit.

Idris Elba

Known for his portrayal of Russell “Stringer” Bell, had a thriving career even before his role on The Wire. After the show, he continued to shine in films like American Gangster, Thorand The Suicide Squad. Elba’s talent also extended to television, earning him a Golden Globe nomination for his role in BBC’s Luther.

In 2018, he made his directorial debut with the film Yardie. Currently, Elba is set to produce a documentary exposing the exploitation of Black artists in the music industry, highlighting his commitment to social issues.

Wood Harris

Wood Harris, who portrayed Avon Barksdale, has been active in supporting roles in both film and television. He appeared in movies such as Ant-Man and reunited with Michael B. Jordan in the Creed series. Harris also starred alongside Tristan Wilds in VH1’s The Breaks.

Most recently, he played former NBA player Spencer Haywood in HBO’s Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty.

Wendell Pierce

Known for his role as William “Bunk” Moreland, has continued to make his mark in the industry. He appeared in various television shows like “Suits,” Chicago P.D.and The Odd Couple. Additionally, Pierce has showcased his talent on Broadway, playing the iconic role of Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman since 2022.

Michael K. Williams

Williams made a significant impact on The Wire as the fan-favorite character Omar Little. Williams went on to appear in notable films such as 12 Years a Slave and RoboCop while also starring in TV shows like Boardwalk Empire and Lovecraft Country.

Tragically, Williams passed away in 2021 at the age of 54, leaving behind a legacy of incredible performances.

Kodak Black Drops “The Don”

Kodak Black has recently made his acting debut in the short film The Donwhich is part of his new album Pistolz & Pearlz. This crossover between acting and hip-hop highlights the multidimensional talents of artists in the industry.
