A storm with heavy rain and hail hit Catania in Sicily today, and city leaders announced that the area hit by a tornado.

ANSA News Agency announced that several people were injured, but that no one was hospitalized.

Several houses were damaged, trees were uprooted, and some roads were closed, the same source added, Hina reports.

Four planes had to be diverted to other airports during the landing.

Italy was hit by storms this week, so in Liguria, after heavy rains, rivers overflowed yesterday and today.

A small bridge collapsed, and rescuers had to evacuate 10 families, Italian media reported.
