Today is January 8, the second day of Christmas and a holiday called the Council of the Most Holy Mother of God.
The Council of the Most Holy Mother of God is celebrated on the second day of Christmas. Then the Christian church pays homage to the Most Holy Mother of God. This celebration is called the “council”, because on that day all the clergy gather with the people to celebrate the Mother of God and because the three-way council is served in her honor.
On that day, the Eastern sages, led by the star of repatriation, they came to Bethlehem to worship the Lord.
King Herod then ordered that all children in Bethlehem be killed. However, seeing these intentions, God sent his angel to appear to Joseph in a dream and commanded him to flee to Egypt with the Virgin and Child, which Joseph did.
in Nazareth the words of the prophet were fulfilled: Behold, the Lord, sitting on a cloud of light, will come to Egypt.
in the village of Matarea near Cairo, a tree is shown under which the Most Holy Mother of God and the Lord Jesus rested, under which a miraculous spring of water now flows. Believers on this day say these words for health and peace throughout the year:
With your birth, Christ God, shine the holy light of knowledge of God, because in that light those who serve the stars are taught by the star, that they worship You, the Sun of Justice, and to know You from the heights of the East, Lord, glory to You!
In her honor and as a sign of gratitude, a special prayer is said today.

With your birth, Christ God, shine the holy light of the knowledge of God, because in that light the star teaches those who serve the stars, to worship you, the sun of justice, and to know you from the heights of the east, Lord, glory to you!
Customs on the second day of Christmas
Today, according to folk customs, friends and neighbors visit and receive guests in the house. On the second day of Christmas, people say, you should dedicate yourself to a walk and visit friends and godparents, because “whoever has friends is a rich man.”
It is believed that on this day they make peace. and those who have been at loggerheads for years and that it is not good to drive anyone off the doorstep.
Today, behind the festive table that is still set, everyone is equal and in health and joy of glory the happiest holiday of Christianity. It is customary not to clean the house today because Christmas is celebrated in Orthodoxy for three days.
