The marathon track record in Amsterdam is under serious threat. Tamira Tola, Leul Gebresilase, Laban Korir and Jonathan Korir will attack the achievement from 2:04:06 on October 17 in the competition of the World Athletics Series Elite Platinum Label.
Tola, who put his personal record in Dubai in 2018, equaled the achievement of the Amsterdam Marathon. The Ethiopian, who won Olympic bronze in the 10,000 meters in 2016 and world silver in the 2017 marathon, won this year’s edition of the Dubai Marathon with 2:04:11.
His compatriot Gebresilase has a personal achievement of 2:04:02 hours since his debut in the discipline in Dubai three years ago.
35-year-old Laban Korir, who is a training partner of world record holder Eliud Kipchoge, has 2: 05:54. Jonathan Corrier, who also trains with Kipchoge, can boast a result of 2:06:40.
The record for the track of the marathon in Amsterdam is by Lawrence Cherono and was set in 2018. This is also the fastest marathon run in the Netherlands.
