Top 15 Strongest Lightning Users In Naruto Ranked!

Lightning Release is one of the five nature transformations in the Narutoverse. While all five nature transformations are powerful in their own right, Lightning Release has some of the most iconic and ‘flashiest’ jutsus we’ve seen yet.

Jutsus of this nature type are known for their speed and the ability to even paralyze opponents and augment one’s weapons. Unlike other elements, lightning can also counter two other elements instead of one– both earth and water.

Naruto has an abundance of lightning users even among the new generation. That said, here are 15 of the strongest lightning users in Naruto ranked:

15. Sarada Uchiha

As an Uchiha, Sarada has inherited not only her clan’s Fire Release Jutsu but also their staggering talent. Sarada is incredibly skilled at nature transformations and has already mastered Wind, Fire, and Lightning Release.

Sarada uses Lightning Release to imbue her Fuma Shuriken, create armor, orbs, and streaks of lightning. The young shinobi was also able to use Chidori successfully in battle on her first try to defeat Boro, one of the Inner Kara members of Kara.

14. Urashiki Otsutsuki

Uraashiki was one of the low-ranking members of the Otsutsuki Clan who accompanied Momoshiki and Kinshiki in their search for the God Tree.

Using a chakra fishing rod, Urashiki could extract chakra from his opponents and use the stored chakra to access their nature transformations and copy their techniques.

After stealing chakra from Mitsuki and Sasuke, Urashiki gained the ability to use Lightning Release, using it to create lethal bolts of electricity.

13. Boruto Uzumaki

While Naruto and the older generation struggled to master nature transformations, Boruto, being the prodigy he is, has already mastered three of the five chakra releases at a much younger age than the older generation.

His signature vanishing Rasengan— essentially a wind and lightning release jutsu at its core— was able to take out Momoshiki Otsutsuki despite his chakra absorption abilities.

Boruto is also highly skilled at using shuriken from his training with Sasuke and can coat them with lightning.

12. Mitsuki

As an artificially created clone, Mitsuki is an exceptional shinobi whose powers possibly hold the potential to surpass even the Three Legendary Sannin.

Mitsuki is exceptionally skilled at Wind and Lightning Release– the former being his go-to in battle. He can generate and discharge electricity and also possibly use Kakashi’s signature Purple Electricity jutsu.

His techniques were able to hurt even a Jonin level shinobi like Shinki.

11. Kakuzu

Kakuzu was an S-rank member of the Akatsuki and a former Takigakure shinobi who came to be known as the ‘immortal ninja.’ He was one of the Akatsuki’s deadliest members able to contend with Kakashi.

Kakuzu gained near invincibility and the ability to use all five nature transformations by stealing the hearts of other ninjas. Each heart possesses an affinity for one of the elements which Kakuzu could access and use with exceptional skill by connecting his chakra-circulatory system to the four additional mask-covered hearts on his back.

Kakuzu’s lightning mask allowed him to use a Jutsu called False Darkness, which shoots highly destructive, lethal lightning spears from his mouth that can pierce even rock.

10. Konohamaru Sarutobi

The third Hokage’s ‘honorable grandson’ has come a long way since the beginning of the series. Much like his idol and teacher Naruto, Konohamaru is among the most skilled shinobi of Konoha.

Although Konohamaru isn’t known primarily for his Lightning Release, he has shown to be adept at using the nature type in the anime. He can release a stream of electricity around himself, creating a protective barrier that keeps opponents away.

9. Darui aka The Fifth Raikage

As a student of the Third Raikage and the Fourth’s right-hand man, it comes as no surprise that Darui is a powerful shinobi who rose to the rank of the Raikage himself.

Darui is skilled at water, wind, and lightning release, which he often uses in conjunction with lethal effects.

Darui is also the sole successor of the black lightning technique passed down to him by the Third Raikage. His signature jutsu Black Panther creates a massive panther of said black lightning which can wipe out hordes of opponents in a fell swoop.

8. Killer B

Killer B is the host of the Eight-Tails, Gyuki, and a skilled shinobi hailing from Kumogakure. As such, he possesses immense chakra and is undeniably adept at Lightning nature transformation.

The Jinchūriki can imbue both his swords and himself with lightning, giving him a boost in speed and strength. His go-to kenjutsu, Acrobat, often uses the jutsu Supervibrato Lightning Release Swords to give his attacks added boost.

His refined skill and chakra control allow him to even pierce a tree trunk through and through using just a charged pencil.

7. Hiruzen Sarutobi

Hiruzen Sarutobi, The Third Hokage, was known as the most powerful of the Kage during his time and is easily one of the strongest Hokage in the history of Konoha.

Also known as the God Of Shinobi, Sarutobi is equally proficient in all five nature transformations– including lightning. Sarutobi can create shadow clones infused with lightning as well as release streams of electricity.

6. Ay The Fourth Raikage

Being the Kage of Kumogakure, literally the Land of Lightning, it should be no shocker that Ay, the Fourth Raikage, is an incredibly powerful shinobi and proficient lightning user.

The Third’s signature technique, Lightning Release Chakra Mode, lets him create a cloak of lightning, which greatly enhances his physical capabilities.

Ay is undeniably one of the fastest shinobi, rivaled in speed only by Minato. His speed and reflexes allow him to leave after-images and evade point-blank attacks and can outpace even the Sharingan’s watchful eye.

5. Ay the Third Raikage

Like his son, Ay the Third Raikage was a shinobi of exceptional caliber and one of the strongest Raikage in the history of Kumogakure.

Like the other Raikage, the Third’s proficiency at Lightning Release is a given. His lightning armor was near impenetrable even when faced with powerful attacks like Naruto’s Rasenshuriken. The only known jutsu to pierce his armor is his own, the Hell Stab, which he used to cut off all of Gyuki’s Tails.

Ay also possesses speed and reflexes comparable to his son’s, together with the mysterious black lightning technique he passed on to Darui.

4. Kakashi Hatake

Famed as the Copy Ninja, Kakashi is one of the strongest shinobi of the series who went on to become the Sixth Hokage after the Fourth Shinobi War. Owing to his Sharingan, Kakashi has mastered all five nature transformations but particularly likes lightning.

Kakashi has mastered and invented a plethora of powerful jutsu like the Chidori, Raikiri, Raiden, and Purple Electricity.

The ancestor of the Uchiha Clan and firstborn son of Hagoromo, Indra Otsutsuki, was no less than a prodigy with his powerful chakra, immense talent, and lineage.

Indra was proficient at Fire and Lightning Release with an affinity for the latter even as a child. Indra’s skill with Lightning Release only continued to skyrocket as he grew older, allowing him to channel lightning through his entire body and release blasts of lightning by adulthood.

2. Sasuke Uchiha

True to his Uchiha Lineage, Sasuke possesses an inborn affinity for Fire Release, howbeit his proficiency with Lightning Release is hard to ignore.

Sasuke possesses multiple lightning jutsus each stronger than the last. Besides his go-to jutsu, the Chidori, Sasuke can also use powerful jutsu like Indra’s Arrow– his strongest offensive technique, and Kirin– one of Sasuke’s own inventions, which draws on natural lightning and can level an entire mountain.

1. Hagoromo Otsutsuki

Hagoromo Otsutsuki is the strongest lightning user in Naruto. He possessed immense chakra as Kaguya’s son and was the first to master all five nature transformations, including Lightning Release.

Hagoromo, the infamous Sage of Six Paths, is a god-like figure who invented ninjutsu as we know it today and is the predecessor of all shinobi.

Hagoromo has used Lightning Release to demolish giant rocks and create blades of lightning. His signature jutsu, the Drilling Hand Of Sage Lightning, combines lightning and sage chakra into his hand to create a concentrated thrust.

● Tsunade

Also known as the world’s greatest medical-nin, Tsunade is one of the Three Legendary Sannin who became the Fifth Hokage.

Tsunade is adept at Water, Earth, Fire, and Lightning Release. Her Body Pathway Derangement jutsu channels electricity into the opponent’s body and compromises their nervous system and ability to control their body.

The high-level medical ninjutsu is near impossible to overcome, and Tsunade is the only shinobi to have mastered it. Still, it is unclear whether the technique qualifies as Lightning Release.
