Twitter reacts to Kyle Daukaus vs. Kevin Holland no contest after clash of heads at UFC Fight Night 193

Kevin Holland continued to fall on hard times Saturday with a no contest against Kyle Daukaus in the UFC Fight Night 193 co-main event.

Daukaus (10-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) vs. Holland (21-7 MMA, 7-4 UFC) was deemed a no contest after an accidental clash of heads in the first round disrupted the action. Daukaus managed to choke Holland out, but after review from referee Dan Miragliotta of the replay, the middleweight bout was deemed a no contest at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Check below for the top Twitter reactions to Daukaus vs. Holland at UFC Fight Night 193.

Holland comes out kicking. Daukaus lands a couple hooks and rushes for the double leg. Holland drags him up into the clinch. Daukaus goes for the trip and gets it. Holland jawing with DC while defending takedowns. #UFCVegas38

Holland fights his way to his feet, Daukaus wiht the hooks in and the RNC slappted on. Holland taps. Kyle Daukaus with a huge win but that may not last. Holland bleeding bad out of his mouth. #UFCVegas38

Holland knocked out cold by a head butt AND choked nearly unconscious in the same round #UFCVegas38

— Fight Ghost (@Fight_Ghost) October 3, 2021

That might be the most brutal headbutt I’ve seen in MMA since the early days.

— Oscar Willis (@oscarswillis) October 3, 2021

Man… Holland almost gets out out twice but that looked like a clear headbutt to me… oof. Get to the window fast if you got a Daukaus ticket like me, but hope Holland is ok. #UFCVegas38

Holland was a zombie out there. Went out, came back to life to keep fitin.

— Bryce Mitchell (@ThugnastyMMA) October 3, 2021

That’ll be a “no contest” come Monday. Then the rematch sometime down the road.

— The Thugjitsu Master (@thugjitsumaster) October 3, 2021

That’s tough for Kevin Holland. Knocked out by the head butt. He snapped back, but Daukaus was in control from there. I’m not even sure how to feel about that one @ufc .

— Ryan Clark (@Realrclark25) October 3, 2021

Mad respect for Kevin Holland, who fought on after he appeared to be knocked out by a vicious clash of heads. Kyle Daukaus was smart to go all in for the finish/submission. NSAC just reviewed it, but the call stands. Wow.

— Jon Anik (@Jon_Anik) October 3, 2021

Herb Dean telling Dan Miragliotta that he has the authority to rule this bout a No Contest if he feels the headbutt lead to a lengthy finishing “sequence” that favored Kyle Daukaus.

— Steven Kelliher (@Steven_Kelliher) October 3, 2021

Crazy that the officials are consulting with multiple UFC senior executives about how to rule in this fight.

This sport remains the dirtiest and weirdest.

— TheRealSnowden (@JESnowden) October 3, 2021

The fact that they’re still discussing this after they fought well past the head butt is ridiculous to be honest. If they stop the fight right after the head butt, that’s one thing but Holland fought on. Daukus kept fighting and won by submission, full stop.

— Kenny Florian (@kennyflorian) October 3, 2021

Sucks for Holland. Last week there was a clash of heads with Ortega volkanawski too that had a big impact on the fights momentum

— Sodiq Yusuff (@Super_Sodiq) October 3, 2021

I know Holland has a serious headache right now ! 😬 that head butt was vicious ! #UFCVegas38

— Derek Brunson (@DerekBrunson) October 3, 2021

No contest seems like the right call here, imo. But pay them their full fight checks. #UFCVegas38

— Matthew Wells (@MrMWells) October 3, 2021

Wow. Upon review, it goes into the books as a no-contest. Daukaus looks kinda pissed. Hard to blame him, but I think this is prolly the right call. Glad it’s not my call. More Monday –> @AnikFlorianPod @kennyflorian

Flo fighters fight bro, we’re trained, we get hurt we fight. Unfortunately the blow that hurt was a unintentional clash of heads. Last week merab was knocked out but kept going. Difference is he got hit with legal shot. Kyle did what he was supposed to do and won but illegal. https://t.co/2ywQQyxXOJ

Restarting the fight would have been fun
