U17 AFCON: “We don’t care if Nigeria come spitting fire”- South Africa boss talks tough ahead of clash against Golden Eaglets

The Golden Eaglets just need a point to seal their place in the next round, but Crowie has promised that his lads will give their all to defeat Nigeria

South Africa coach Duncan Crowie has stated that his team will match everything Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets bring to the pitch when both teams clash in their crucial U-17 Africa Cup of Nations tie on Saturday.

Soccernet.ng reports that Nigeria will take on South Africa in their final group game of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday.

There is a lot at stake, and the two teams would be looking to bring their A-game to ensure they emerge winners at the end of 90 minutes.

Both teams have picked one win each, both of which have come against Zambia. Nigeria defeated Zambia 1-0 in their first game but lost the second to Morocco, while South Africa lost their first game against Morocco 1-0, but bounced back with a 3-2 win against Zambia.

The Golden Eaglets just need a draw to progress to the next round, but South Africa must win the game if they want to finish the tournament.

Ahead of the game, Amajimbos coach has Crowie has been talking tough, as he believes his team will defeat Nigeria.

“They played a very quality game in their last match and we know they will come in to this tie like a wounded animal,” Crowie told CAF Media.

“They can be a very dangerous team and there is always quality in that side. It will be a fantastic game.

“Despite losing that game(against Morocco), I still think they had a lot of quality that should not be ignored.

“We want to concentrate on getting a result for ourselves and not having to depend on someone else.

“Our ultimate goal is to go into the match with an objective to win. We don’t care if Nigeria come spitting fire. We want our boys to spit more fire. Whoever wants it more will get it.”

A victory for Nigeria will not just seal their spot in the semifinals, it would guarantee them a ticket to the 2023 Under-17 World Cup.
