Ukraine accuses Russia of being behind hundreds of false bomb threats against Ukrainian society.

SBU states that it has registered more than 300 anonymous phone calls and Internet messages since the turn of the year. The bomb threats are said to have been aimed at schools, airports and a building that houses the President’s office in central Kiev.

The security service further states that most of the bomb threats – which all turned out to be fake – came from neighboring countries that were previously part of the Soviet Union, as well as from the eastern parts of the country that are now controlled by Russian-backed separatists.

The government in Kiev has previously accused Russia to be behind a large-scale hacker attack on Ukrainian government and government sites carried out last week.

Relations between Ukraine and Russia are currently very tense since Russia has moved tens of thousands, possibly over a hundred thousand, soldiers to the border.

Russia has threatened “military technical measures” unless NATO agrees to several demands, including closing the door on Ukraine and other European countries to join the defense alliance. NATO has rejected the claim.
