Uttar Pradesh Tourism launches ‘Mahakumbh 2025 Prelude’ in New Delhi

Mahakumbha is one of the biggest religious gatherings in the world. In order to introduce the mela, the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department hosted a grand event, ‘Mahakumbh 2025 Prelude’, at The Ashoka Hotel in New Delhi. The event marked the beginning of the countdown to the mela.

Prominent dignitaries who were present at the launch were Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and Uttar Pradesh’s Tourism and Culture Minister, Jaiveer Singh.

At the event, Shikhawat said, “If you wish to explore India, come to Mahakumbh”, while Jaiveer Singh mentioned, “Mahakumbh 2025 will be a great convergence for human welfare”

The prelude event served as an introduction to the Mahakumbh Mela 2025, which is expected to draw over 40 crore devotees from around the world. The aim was to showcase the extensive preparations, both cultural and infrastructural, being made to accommodate the large influx of pilgrims and tourists to Prayagraj. This event also highlighted how the Mahakumbh is not only a spiritual gathering but a global symbol of unity, culture, and heritage.

The Union Minister also spoke about India’s unique spiritual heritage and invited people from across the world to experience the transformative power of Mahakumbh. He described the Mahakumbh as an ancient celebration of India’s culture and diversity. “The Mahakumbh Mela is a global gathering that reflects the spirit of unity, essential in today’s geopolitically turbulent times,” Shekhawat remarked.

He further added that the event would offer a perfect opportunity for cultural exchange, and the government was committed to ensuring the best infrastructure, accommodations, and guided tours to make the experience memorable for every visitor.

Uttar Pradesh’s Tourism Minister, Jaiveer Singh, also echoed similar sentiments and highlighted the significance of the event as a manifestation of India’s philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’—the world is one family—and invited international visitors to witness the grandeur of this spiritual gathering, which would also set new benchmarks for religious tourism.

The event showcased cultural performances, exhibitions, and film screenings related to the Mahakumbh 2025, with international dignitaries from countries like Suriname, Malaysia, Seychelles, Nepal, and Switzerland in attendance. This demonstrated the growing global interest in the Mahakumbh, a festival that transcends borders and brings people together.

The Mahakumbh 2025 Prelude concluded with discussions about the event’s preparations, a review of the tent city models, and a heartfelt invitation for all to experience this unparalleled celebration of spirituality, culture, and unity.
