The city hall of São Paulo issued a decree this Friday (7) that brings some changes to the vaccine passport: from now on, two doses will be required for the document to be accepted.
Another change is that from now on, the presentation of the document will be mandatory at parties, dances, clubs and nightclubs, regardless of the capacity.
In the decree, the city hall states that the changes introduced in the vaccine passport are due to the “current situation of the Covid-19 pandemic in the city of São Paulo, which points to an increase in the number of cases of Covid-19 due to the spread of the ômicron variant”.
The text also emphasizes the proximity of carnival and the “probable celebration of parties in this period”.
Required since September in the capital of São Paulo, the vaccine passport is also mandatory in concerts, fairs, congresses, games and any activity that has a capacity of more than 500 people.
According to the municipal management in São Paulo, establishments that do not comply with the rules are subject to penalties, including the revocation of the operating license.
Despite the fact that for events with less than 500 people, the passport requirement is Optional, the city of São Paulo appealed to establishments to demand the presentation of the document.
