VIDEO: Djokovic back in Serbia after deportation from Australia

Tennis player Novak Djokovic returned to Serbia this Monday morning. He landed in Belgrade at 11:15 am (Portuguese time), after confirming his deportation from Australia, for not being vaccinated against covid-19, a situation that prevented him from playing in the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam tournament of the calendar year.

Several dozen supporters were waiting for him, with Serbian flags and ornaments, at the airport of the country’s capital, singing for their «champion». However, Djokovic ended up quickly leaving the airport terminal, after disembarking, without any reaction or declaration to other onlookers and, above all, to the media present.

At the same time he arrived in Belgrade – and after posing with some fans in Dubai – Novak Djokovic learned that may also affect participation in Roland Garros. The French Government has warned that, in order to participate in the clay tournament, all athletes, public and workers involved will have to be fully vaccinated.

It is expected that Djokovic will remain in his country in the coming days .
