Images recorded in a pediatric ward of the São Benedito UPA, in Santa Luzia (MG), in which a doctor aggressively prevents a child of three years old from entering the office with her mother and younger brother, have been revolting Brazil since Wednesday (4). The date on which the event occurred was not disclosed.
In the video it is possible to see that the unit’s employees had already noticed the brutality of the professional, since they were observing from a distance the boy crying outside the room, looking through a crack . The doctor, even more irritated , goes there and slams the door hard in the face of child. From the record it is not possible to know if the boy was hit .
“What happens ? The mother has two children and the doctor does not want to attend to both at the same time. Then she forces the mother to leave a child outside, in the hallway, alone. Look there, closed the door in the boy’s face. He closed the door in the boy’s face. Who is this doctor, people?”, protests, in the video, a citizen who was waiting for care.
With the case viral on the internet, the city of Santa Luzia released a note on social media informing the immediate dismissal of the pediatrician, also informing that she may even respond to an administrative proceeding .
“The Municipality of Santa Luzia makes public clarify that the doctor identified in the video circulating on social media was dismissed from providing services at the City Hall. We reaffirm the repudiation of the attitude taken in the service performed at the São Benedito UPA, clarifying that the treatment given to users at the time does not match the guidelines established for public service in the Municipal Administration of Santa Luzia. We also reiterate that acts like this are subject, including, to administrative proceedings and complaints to the Ombudsman and General Corregedoria of the Municipality”, says the published text.
