On January 15, MBC’s “How Do You Play?” aired the first half of the Dotori Festival special.
The Dotori Festival is a music festival arranged on “How Do You Play?” by Yoo Jae Suk. Performers for the first half included Sunny Hill, Younha, Epik High, and So Sweet, a new duo with comedian-musicians Jung Joon Ha and Shin Bong Sun.
Before the festival began, Yoo Jae Suk shared, “I heard there were 19,844 applicants to attend the festival. Even now, fans have been waiting out there since earlier today.” The cast were moved and excited to meet an in-person audience for the first time in a while. As the concert began, Yoo Jae Suk said, “This is my first time in front of an audience in two years, since Yoo San Seul [Yoo Jae Suk’s trot alter ego] had his goodbye concert in 2019. I didn’t know it would take this long.”
John Legend sent in a video message cheering on the cast, praising their upcoming concert and expressing his regrets that he couldn’t appear in-person himself.
Sunny Hill performed first, and Yoo Jae Suk asked what the members had been up to since their last appearance on “How Do You Play?”. Bitna works at a horse riding center and said, “A lot of celebrities come to my work, but a lot of people have come looking for me.” Eunyoung, who is currently working as an actor, said, “The atmosphere on set has changed. After learning I was Sunny Hill’s Jubi, they don’t scold me as much even when I mess up a take.”
Younha was next, performing her hits and meeting a fan whose girlfriend sent in a story about how her boyfriend was a huge fan of Younha. The fan, whose name was Lee Jae Ho, said, “I thought I’d gone crazy when I heard that I’d gotten in. Of all Younha’s songs, I like ‘We Broke Up Today’ the best.” HaHa observed, “I can’t tell if you’re just tactless or if I admire your tenacity.” But Lee Jae Ho quipped, “My girlfriend is a fan of Sung Si Kyung.”
Afterward, Epik High took to the stage. Together, Epik High and Younha performed their 2008 hit song “Umbrella.” Tablo said, “This is our first time standing and performing on the same stage as Younha since 2015, seven years ago.” Mithra Jin and DJ Tukutz joked, “You should be a singer, you can finally debut.” Younha, who debuted more than 16 years ago, said, “They only compliment me behind my back.” Lovelyz’s Mijoo said, “The cast members only compliment me when I’m not around as well.”
Epik High reacted to funny comments as well, such as the one that said, “I’m not sure why, but it feels like everyone must have liked Tablo at least once.” Tablo replied, “My wife Kang Hye Jung probably thought so too.” Epik High also talked about holding concerts for the first time since COVID-19 at the end of 2021 and said, “PSY was a guest and said that instead of cheering, we should applaud and stomp our feet.”
