With all eyes on superstar outfielder Juan Soto amid ongoing trade talks, the Nationals will wrap up their three-game series against the Dodgers on Wednesday, and you can watch for free at 3:10 p.m. ET/12:10 p.m. PT on MLB.TV.
The three-game series, which began Monday, brought Soto back to Dodger Stadium, the site of his thrilling Home Run Derby victory a little over a week ago. It was the latest instance of Soto rising to the occasion when he’s had the spotlight, and you can bet he’s not going to shy away as anticipation builds ahead of the Aug. 2 Trade Deadline.
Wednesday’s game will give the National League West-leading Dodgers, who have been linked to Soto in recent trade chatter, one more chance to see the 23-year-old up close before the Deadline. It will give fans a chance to see a number of other Nats trade candidates as well, including first baseman Josh Bell and designated hitter Nelson Cruz.
The game could have further Trade Deadline ramifications for the Dodgers, too, as left-hander Andrew Heaney is set to make his return from the injured list to start against Washington. Heaney has dealt with left shoulder issues for much of this season, making just three starts for Los Angeles while posting a sparkling 0.59 ERA over 15 1/3 innings. If he can make a healthy return, it could influence whether the Dodgers make a move for another starting pitcher before the Deadline.
As if that wasn’t enough intrigue, fans will also have the opportunity to catch a glimpse of Freddie Freeman, who is in the midst of one of the hottest stretches of his career, entering Tuesday’s game with a .524 average (22-for-42), five homers and a 1.595 OPS over his previous 11 games.
