Francis Ngannou is not just the UFC’s incumbent Heavyweight Champion; he also currently holds the record for the hardest punch ever thrown in the world, according to a device called the PowerKube, which measures factors such as force, speed, and accuracy. Many have tried to break this record, including former World’s Strongest Man title holder Eddie Hall, but none have succeeded.
This striking power has clearly helped Ngannou to dominate his opponents in the octagon, but it has also led to a surge in athletes and fitness influencers offering themselves up to be hit by the Cameroonian fighter. So it stands to reason that the stars of Jackass, arguably the O.G. masochistic content creators, would want to get in on the action.
The fourth movie spinoff from the popular MTV series, Jackass Forever, features a guest appearance by Ngannou, who was invited to take part in a “cup test” scene, where he would demonstrate his legendary punching power, and hit cast member Ehren McGhehey in the groin as hard as he could.
“I told Ehren it was a lightweight,” jokes Johnny Knoxville moments before the scene is due to be filmed. “I didn’t tell him it was a heavyweight!” (Knoxville has sustained his own fair share of crotch-related injuries in his time, including breaking his penis in a motorcycle accident. He recently assured fans that it is now in “working order” again.)
Steve-O adds that taking this punch from Ngannou was the moment where McGhehey finally became a “star” in his own right. “I’m a UFC man, so I heard Francis Ngannou was gonna be there and I was like, I want to do it, please!” He says. “And then later I found out, in fact, I didn’t want to do it… His punch is the equivalent of being hit by a Ford Escort at top speed.”
