The Wagner Seahawks will be returning home after a two-game road trip. The Seahawks and the LIU Sharks will face off in a Northeast battle at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday at Spiro Sports Center. Both teams are tiptoeing into their game after sneaking past their previous opponents.
Wagner sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-52 win over the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils on Thursday. The overall outcome was to be expected, but Central Connecticut State made it more of a contest than the oddsmakers had predicted.
Speaking of close games: on Thursday LIU sidestepped the Sacred Heart Pioneers for a 79-75 victory.
The wins brought Wagner up to 15-2 and LIU to 9-12. A couple stats to keep an eye on: The Seahawks rank 32nd in college basketball when it comes to takeaways, with 16 on average. Less enviably, the Sharks are 52nd worst in college basketball in turnovers per game, with 14.4 on average.
