THE GUILTY

When Antoine Fuqua has his fingers in the game, the viewer knows that a gripping thriller is ahead of him. In this remake of the Danish film of the same name from 2018, the “Southpaw” director works again with Jake Gyllenhaal; as a degraded police officer, he has to repent at the emergency call center; however, a call from a woman who was apparently kidnapped becomes a nervous ordeal. Anyone who is familiar with Fuqua’s work knows that he knows how to show like no other how easily the psyche can be led astray and how often one is mistaken about people. In order to take this effect to the extreme, this film takes place exclusively in the emergency call center, with Gyllenhaal as the only visible protagonist – the majority of the plot, especially the action, however, only takes place in the form of noise over the phone. YOU YOU HE & WE

An experiment with consequences – after a four-week partner swap, two befriended couples meet again in a remote beach house and discover: nothing is like it anymore was. Suddenly your own feelings are put to the test, life models and expectations are questioned. At the end of the Netflix film the question remains, who loves whom and is that enough?
ARMY OF THIEVES

In “Army of the Dead” (released on Netflix in May) Ludwig Dieter (Matthias Schweighöfer) fought his way through a zombie-infested Las Vegas with a team of vagabonds in order for a rich client of it Getting money out of a safe. In this prequel to Zack Snyder’s action-packed fun, we see the naive banker’s rise to ingenious safecracker: six years before the events of “Army of the Dead”, he is hired by a mysterious woman for a robbery, which he also with the help of a troop of loners must pull through. In addition, Netflix triumphs in October with some well-known licensed titles: the action romance “Knight and Day” with Tom Cruise and the sequel “Dumm und Dümmehr ”and“ Ride Along: Next Level Miami ”(all from October 1st on Netflix) promise lots of laughs, while the Oscar-winning drama“ The Geisha ”tells the story of a young woman’s fate in Japan in the early 20th century.

Margaret Qualley is in this moving adaptation of Stephanie Land’s memoir for the first time in front of the camera with her mother Andie McDowell, who plays her mentally ill mother. THE BILLION DOLLAR CODE, MINISERIE

Friendship, loyalty and the question of justice in the digital age are in the foreground of this mini-series, which is based on real events. “The Billion Dollar Code” tells the story of two German computer pioneers who go to court to fight a seemingly invincible opponent in order to be recognized as the inventor of the Google Earth algorithm.
YOU – YOU WILL LOVE ME, SEASON 3

COLIN IN BLACK & WHITE

Colin Kaepernick made a name for himself as quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. But it was above all his political activism on the field that made the headlines: in order to protest against the ongoing police violence and systematic discrimination against black Americans, Kaepernick refused to stand at the national anthem from 2016. This drama series, which the ex-professional footballer developed together with “Selma” director Ava DuVernay, outlines the career of the man who divided the US in recent years like no other public figure.

COLONIA DIGNIDAD: A GERMAN SECT IN CHILE

It takes an extraordinary character to found a sect; The German lay preacher Paul Schäfer undoubtedly owned it: From the 1960s, the native of Bonn built the Christian colony Colonia Dignidad in Chile, which apparently concentrated on reforming difficult-to-educate children. In reality, Schäfer used the home to torture and sexually abuse children. In addition to interviews with contemporary witnesses, the documentary shows numerous, previously unpublished, original recordings from the sect.

Even 24 years after her accidental death on the run from the paparazzi, the media apparently still does not want to let Princess Diana rest in peace. In this musical, composed by Tony Award winners Joe DiPietro and David Bryan and directed by Tony winner Christopher Ashley, her tragic life story is exploited again: At 19, Diana Spencer becomes engaged to the Prince of Wales and becomes the most famous woman in the world overnight. But the rigid structure of the royal family and their loveless, affair-shaped marriage are increasingly affecting their psyche. The musical should have its world premiere in March 2020; however, due to the coronavirus outbreak, it was postponed to December 2021. With the publication of the recording on Netflix, the play will celebrate its world premiere digitally.
